Moon, Mars, and Beyond
Moon, Mars, and Beyond (MM&B) is an interactive science exhibition with over two-dozen exhibits based on NASA’s Artemis mission, with the goal of sparking interest and awareness of the missions and of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in general.
Built with the help of a generaous grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission along with private donations, the MM&B takes visitors on a journey through the myriad aspects that go into a monumental space program like Artemis. From the rocket that will take us back to the moon, the technology and techniques we will need to survive on other planets, to the effects long-term space mission have on our bodies, this exhibition showcases the immense human achievement of such a program. We also stress the fact that anyone can contribute to the space program, spotlighting cutting-edge initiatives close to home like Morehead State University’s Space Systems Engineering program, or Space Tango—a Lexington, KY-based firm who’s groundbreaking research on the International Space Station will help pave the way for longer missions.
The program is open to groups of up to 32 students grades 3-8, and lasts 3-4 hours hours.
Mission ECHO
One of the most important STEM fields is the healthcare industry. Whether we are on a mission in deep space or right here at home, we will always rely on healthcare professionals.
With this in mind, we have partnered with CEDAR, Inc. as well as local healthcare providers to offer Mission ECHO. This expansion of the Moon, Mars, and Beyond experience adds several interactive exhibits, a comprehensive in-class curriculum, in-person teacher training, and additional medically-themed activities for students and teachers to explore.
Aimed at grades 6-8, up to 32 students per program, 2-4 hours recommended at the center.
