Mars Awaits

To Celebrate 20 years of successful missions, The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky is launching a brand new mission for the 2020-2021 School year, Expedition Mars! To make sure we kick this mission off right, we will be holding a contest to help us decide who will be the first to fly this out-of-this-world mission! This will be a multi-part contest open to all middle school students (grades6-8) in Eastern Kentucky. To find out more about how to win and what you’ll be competing for, please continue reading!

What You’re Working for:

What is a contest without a prize? For this competition, we will award our top three entrants with prizes, listed below.

1st Place:

All-Expense-Paid Challenger Mission Day for up to 60 Students, stickers of their winning patch, and $100 for STEAM supplies

2nd Place:

Stickers of their patch, and $50 for STEAM supplies

3rd Place:

Their patch made into a full-color sticker that they will receive.

How to Compete:

For this contest, we are asking for two things:

  1. Video

Submit a short video (no longer than two minutes) telling us why you should be the first crew onboard our Mars Exploration mission.

  2. Patch (with Explanation)

All official NASA missions also include a mission patch, so we ask that each team submit a patch following our guidelines along with a 500-word maximum explanation on how they designed it.

This contest is open to middle school students grades 6th-8th, with the inaugural mission to be flown during the 2020-2021 school year. You can find more details and full requirements at the links below.
